Prof. Dr. Mustafa Uygar Kalaycı was born in Konya, Turkey, in 1968 and graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. He completed his general surgery residency at Ankara Oncology Hospital in 1998. After practicing in Bayburt and Çumra, Konya, he became an Assistant Professor at Selçuk University in the First Aid and Emergency Department from 1999 to 2001.
He later served as Chief Assistant at both Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital and Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital between 2001 and 2012. In 2012, he was promoted to Associate Professor at Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk E.A. Hospital, where he worked until 2014. From 2014 to 2019, he was the Clinic Director at SBÜ Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Hospital.
Currently, he is a faculty member in the General Surgery Department at the University of Health Sciences. His expertise includes advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and obesity surgery. Prof. Dr. Kalaycı has received international training in Laparoscopic Colorectal and Robotic Surgery at the University of Strasbourg and in HIPEC procedures in Germany. He is fluent in English, married, and has two children, and his hobbies include sailing, motorcycling, and nature sports.
