1. Taking the Anesthesia

The surgery begins the surgery by giving a patient general anesthesia – this will make a patient feel comfortable during the procedure. Some patients are given local anesthesia – this usually depends on what the patients prefer. 

2. Extraction of Fat Cells 

After getting anesthetized, expect your surgeon to make small incisions and to start extracting fat cells from a body part with more fat deposits. A cannula – a medical tube – is usually used to extract fat cells. 

3. Fat Processing

Your surgeon can’t just insert fat cells into your buttocks without purifying them first. This is an important stage of the process because it helps you avoid being infected. The fat is purified using drainage and centrifugation. 

4. Injecting the fat

Once the purification stage is over, the oil will be transferred into your buttocks using small injections at various depths. All this will be done with the patient not feeling any sort of pain or discomfort.

Soon after surgery, patients usually experience some discomfort in the donor areas. The level of uneasiness depends on the surgical technique used. As you step out of the operation room, bruising and swelling are standard features around the injection sites. Your surgeon will most likely prescribe some medication — painkillers —to counter the pain. In a week, the pain and discomfort will subside.
