Treatment Details:

Septorhinoplasty is usually confused with a Rhinoplasty. But these are two different surgeries. Septorhinoplasty is different from Rhino in that it aims to treat a crooked nasal septum. Rhinoplasty is designed to improve the outside appearance of the nose, whereas Septorhinoplasty is for the inner side of the nose. Your nose can feel blocked, and breathing can be complicated when one has a deviated septum

Ideal Candidates for Septorhinoplasty

  • People with a deviated septum that causes difficulty breathing.
  • Individuals who have a snoring problem.
  • People who have nasal blockage.
  • Are physically healthy.
  • Individuals who are nonsmokers.

How to prepare for a Septorhinoplasty

As with other surgeries, patients are advised to abstain from smoking two weeks before and after the surgery. This is done to promote a swift healing process. To avoid the risk of bleeding, the patient’s medications — such as Aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs — are briefly altered.

  • Abstaining from Aspirin or any blood thinner meds must be done for at least a week before the procedure day.
  • If you are taking any meds, you need to inform your surgeon before he begins the surgery. It’s best that you tell him/her during your first consultation.
  • Patients shouldn’t smoke or drink alcohol 24 hours before and after the surgery.
  • If you have a chronic disease, you should inform the hair transplant specialist.

How A Septorhinoplasty Is Performed

Our expert surgeons at Luna Clinic perform a functional septorhinoplasty under a general anesthetic. This type of nose job usually takes between 75 and 90 minutes.

There’s no need to stay at the hospital overnight. Patients are discharged a few hours after the surgery – unless the surgery is complicated.

After giving the patient anesthesia, the surgeon will begin the procedure by making an incision inside the patient’s nose. (Since incisions are made inside a patient’s nose, there’s no visible scarring.)

After making incisions, your surgeon will then trim, correct and reposition the bone and cartilage of the nose as a way of straightening the septum. Our surgeons usually restore the deviation by straightening any crooked nasal bones and inserting cartilage grafts.

After correcting the deviated septum, your surgeon will then alter the bone and cartilage on your nose’s structure to provide or maintain the nose appearance you want.

During this procedure, your surgeon can also augment your nose. Suppose some areas on your nose appear to be out of proportion. Surgeons will use cartilage grafts to shape your nose the same way you want it to be.

Once your surgeon has successfully created a new structure, he or she will then stretch the tissues over the nose and carefully suture them. If a patient is bleeding after the surgery, your surgeon may insert dressings inside the nose and also apply a splint on the outside of the nose. The splint is placed so that it helps reduce the nose, protects the nose, and so that the nose maintains its new shape during the recovery process.

Septorhinoplasty Recovery Timeline

Soon after the surgery, the surgeon may place nasal packs inside the patient’s nose to stabilize the septum. The surgeon’s assistance will be monitoring the patient in a recovery room just for a few hours. The nasal packs placed in the nose are self-removed a few days after the surgery. The recovery period is a week-long, and patients are expected to follow the instructions by their surgeon and abstain from swimming, nose-blowing, pulling clothing over their head, resting eyeglasses on the nose, vigorous tooth brushing, and facial expressions require a lot of movement, and running.

Septorhinoplasty Cost In Turkey

While the Septorhinoplasty surgery costs are expensive and reserved for the affluent in Western Europe and the US, Australis, and Canada, but in Turkey, specifically at Luna Clinic, it ranges from just $600 to $2,000.

International patients who travel to Turkey for a nose job surgery will save 60% to 70% of the amount they would have spent in their home countries.

At Luna Clinic, we offer special packages – that include transportation, treatment costs, accommodation, etc. – to international patients to relieve them of the hassle of feeling like a foreigner.

Septorhinoplasty in Istanbul

Septorhinoplasty is one of the most common surgeries in Istanbul. When you visit any crowded areas in Istanbul (like Taksim), you are bound to see people – with nose splinters – who just had a nose job. That shows how common Septorhinoplasty is in the city.

Before you even commit to having this procedure, it’s always essential to ask your surgeon about his/her credentials. If possible, you can ask for their photos of their previous patients. Do not be rushed or pressured into deciding to have a fat transfer; this has to be a personal decision.
